The band was formed in 1993 by the producer Lou Pearlman who was inspired by great success of the band “New Kids on the Block”. After series of auditions, Pearlman engaged Alexander McLean, Nick Carter and Howie Dorough and soon Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell joined them. The first concert of “Backstreet Boys” was held in July 1993 in Orlando and then continued their performances in local high-schools and trade centers. The first album “Backstreet Boys” was released in 1996 and sold million copies. Songs “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”, “Anywhere For You” and “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” became great hits. It is interesting to point out that this record was first released for the European market and reached the American market only years later. They cemented they popularity with their second album “Backstreet’s Back” from 1997 which only in America sold unbelievable number of 14 million copies. The greatest hits from this album are “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”, “As Long as You Love Me” and “All I Have to Give”.

“Backstreet Boys” reached the peak of their popularity in 1999 with their album “Millennium” which was on the top of world music lists for several months. The album sold 40 million copies and songs which became hits are “I Want It That Way”, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” and “Larger Than Life”. After the album “Black & Blue” from 2000, disputes among the band members started and the band fell apart in 2002 when Nick Carter decided to begin a solo career. However, the band reunited in 2005 with the release of the album “Never Gone”. Since 2006, the band consists of four members, because Kevin Richardson decided to dedicate himself to his family.

The band started their world tour promoting their new album “This Is Us” on the 15th of August in New Jersey, while the European part of the tour starts on the 30th of October in Lisbon. “Backstreet Boys” will perform on the 27th of November in Zagreb and tickets are almost sold out.
