Backstreet Boy Nick Carter to rehab Wednesday, June 29, 2005 Posted: 1542 GMT (2342 HKT) Nick Carter or Create Your Own

Manage Alerts | What Is This? SANTA ANA, California (AP) -- Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was ordered into a three-month alcohol treatment program after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Carter, 25, entered the plea Tuesday in Orange County Superior Court. The judge also ordered Carter to pay $1,200 in fines, placed him on three years' informal probation and restricted his driving privileges for 90 days, said Deputy District Attorney Tate McCallister.

Carter, who wasn't in court Tuesday, was pulled over March 5 in downtown Huntington Beach. He was charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level above 0.08, the legal limit.

The singer has said through his publicist that he was on prescription medication at the time "and was unaware of its interaction possibilities."

The Backstreet Boys, whose hits include "I Want it That Way," "Shape of My Heart" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely," recently reunited after four years. Carter, the youngest of the group, released a solo album in 2002.

BILOXI - More than 1,000 high-pitched screams, loud enough to slice through eardrums, bounced between the walls Sunday inside Edgewater Mall as fans waited to see pop star Aaron Carter.

Fans chanted "Aaron, Aaron" for more than an hour, some carried homemade signs and others were there with hopes of actually getting to meet the youngest male solo artist ever to land four top 40 hits.

"I like him because he's cute," said 13-year-old Cynthia Prevou. "I want to meet him because he seems like a nice person."

Prevou got to the mall nearly two hours before the show started, but the long wait was worth her front-row spot to watch Carter perform 10 songs on stage in front of Dillard's during "Summer Splash," a promotional concert to celebrate the opening of Gulf Island Water Park in Gulfport, with top-40 radio station 107.1-FM The Monkey.

The younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, 17-year-old Aaron has a new song, "Saturday Night," which has lit up the radio station request lines.

"The response has just been outstanding," said Lucas, the station's program director and afternoon disc jockey. "We feel like Aaron's star is just beginning to shine, and we're getting him on the way up."

Amber Hilton and Emily Mountjoy said they are two of the oldest Aaron Carter fans. The 18-year-olds stayed awake until 5 a.m. working on "We Love Aaron" signs.

"We are just fans of The Monkey and of Aaron Carter," Mountjoy said. "We are hoping to score some brownie points with The Monkey for working our butts off on these signs."

The Pine Gulf Council of the Girl Scouts ran a membership drive during the event and Gulfport representative Rachel Sones said "Summer Splash" was a great way to target a new type of scout.

"We are trying to make a new style of Girl Scouts," Sones said. "We are getting out into the community and sponsoring events like this to let them know we are no longer just camping and cookie sales."

Carter is scheduled to tour China later this summer. Gulf Island Water Park is expected to open next month.

Wright, by the way, told me he is now managing the Backstreet Boys again, and that they are four songs into recording a new album for Jive Records. It should hit stores this summer.

JACKSON PARTY December 20, 2003 MICHAEL JACKSON arrived Saturday at Neverland Ranch in a black limousine, rolling down the window just enough to stick out his hand and flash a peace sign at waiting fans. Inside the sprawling California estate about 600 guests were on hand to lend their support to the embattled superstar. Guests included an eclectic group of celebrities such as "American Idol" host RYAN SEACREST, pop stars AARON and NICK CARTER, tennis champ SERENA WILLIAMS and hip-hop artist turned preacher MC HAMMER. Jackson's family, including LA TOYA and JERMAINE also came out for the party. Children and grown-ups alike had free rein on the many rides Jackson has at his amusement park-like home. The petting zoo was in full swing too, and guests came face-to-face with exotic creatures like llamas and camels. Hungry attendees whetted their appetites on sushi and fried chicken. As they exited, guests were handed "I Support Michael" tee shirts. A spokesperson for Jackson told reporters waiting outside the gates of the ranch, "This event is to show Michael that he has the love and support of his friends and family." It was the first time Jackson had returned to Neverland since his arrest last month. On Thursday he was formally charged with nine felony counts stemming from accusations of child molestation. Jackson is free on $3 million bail and due in court for arraignment on Jan. 16.
