Kevin Richardson To Return Maybe Soon

In a recent interview Kevin richardson said this " I miss my brothers as they were my best friends and I loved them to death, but I really don't know if i'm going to return just yet. I still have my family I want to take care of. And I know fans are disapointed but I may return soon if I can get my life together. I hope the boys take this as a maybe and not a positive as I'm really not sure right now if I'm going to. Backstreet may have me back when the This Is Us Tour finishes which is in mid 2011.

Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson Moving On

Posted: May 15 2009, 02:41 PM
Thursday, May 14, 2009 SELLER: Kevin Richardson

LOCATION: Miller Drive, Los Angeles, CA

PRICE: $3,977,000 (list)

SIZE: 3,532 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms

DESCRIPTION: Secluded & gated, this is one of a handful of large flat view properties on the Sunset Strip Romantic "Byrd House" redone for today's lifestyle yet the original character & details remain intact. Extraordinary outdoor entertainment areas include huge sweeping lawns & garden, outdoor covered porch & dining area w/FP. Staggering jetliner views from downtown. Wonderful oversize pool evocative of Old Hollywood & fire pit complete this one of a kind property.

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Sorry kids, but we're a little like a chicken with our head cut off today so we need to be swift in our discussion on this property because we figure that's better than leaving y'all high and dry and in desperate need of a celebrity real estate fix. Besides, we don't want to hear the whining that some of you do when we take a little time to ourselves. If Your Mama has said it once we've said it 14,000 times, when y'all start paying the insurance and satisfying our mortgage you can bitch all you want. Until then, shut yer traps. Ooh lawhd, can y'all tell Your Mama woke up sour? Shoooot, we are needing a nerve pill now and we ain't even got our day half started.

Anyhoo, it looks to Your Mama like former Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson and his former Rockette ladee-mate Kristin (Willits) Richardson have up and sold their Sunset Strip area house. Your Mama never listened to that boy bad music so we really can't tell you much about Mister Richardson other than we hope he steered clear of that fat ol' (alleged) pervert Lou Pearlman who is justifiably raked over the coals in Tyler Gray's book The Hit Charade.

Your Mama wishes we could reveal the figure for which the Richardson residence was sold, but property records we accessed this morning do not disclose a sale price. What we do know, thanks to Our Fairy Godmother in the Sunset Strip, is that the Miller Drive property was put on the market on March 2, 2009 with an asking price of $3,977,000, went into contract just 1o days later and the damn thing had closed by the end of April. Well, la-di-dah.

Property records show Mister and Missus Richardson purchased the Robert Byrd designed domicile (or at least Robert Byrd-esque style domicile) in March of 2001. We regret to inform that we also do not know what the teen gurl magnet paid but based on mortgage records we'd guess it was somewhere around two million clammers.

The higgeldy-piggeldy house was built in 1936 and sits up a long gated driveway that makes the property completely private from the street. Although the driveway and privacy may be celebrity style, the approach to the house not so much. A front facing two car garage greets guests who must clamber along the side of the house to reach the front door of the 3,532 square foot house that snakes along a narrow flat pad with a steep up slope on the backside and a glittery and unobstructed view of Los Angeles on the other.

Listing information indicates the "redone for today's lifestyle" two-story residence has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms including a master bedroom with vaulted ceilings, a private deck, and a large master bathroom with double sinks, a shower that easily accommodates two or more, and a very uglee old-fashioned soaking tub that sits in front of a window for staring at the stars while sitting in a pool of dirty water. The children will also note the rather impractical fireplace. Who lights a damn fire while their brushing their teeth in the morning or wiping off their make-up face in the evening? Who? Okay, probably that Sharon Stone would. But she's got an army of petrified minions to light fires for her, so she doesn't really count. All we know is that as much as we like staring into the flames of a roaring fire, neither Your Mama nor the Dr. Cooter would ever (ever!) bother to haul wood up to the second floor pooper and we certainly would not risk being ripped a new asshole by asking our sometimes splenetic house gurl Svetlana to do such a thing.

The living room has a brick fireplace and a low beamed ceiling as does the dining room which has been painted that particular shade dining room red that is supposed to inspire appetite but always looks a little too bordello for Your Mama's decorative sensibilities. The country style kitchen features more of the low beamed ceiling found elsewhere on the ground floor and the cabinets looked like that are stained to look like walnut (or some other dark wood) but are not actually walnut (or some other dark wood). As we do in so many celebrity cribs, we find a pot rack hanging over a work island with a butcher block counter top. We know that pot rack is supposed to look charming and sort of Old World scullery-like, but it just looks to Your Mama like it should not be there at all.

A large family room (with even more low wood beamed ceiling) opens through dark stained French doors to a covered flagstone terrace surrounded by a low brick wall. This, my chickens, looks like a perfect spot to whittle away an afternoon with a tall stack of gossip glossies, a big bowl of candy and an ice cold pitcher of gin and tonics. A second covered patio near the front of the house has a criss-crossed brick patio, built-in brick fire place/bbq. The Richardsons used the space as an outdoor dining room with a farm table lit by a chandelier (not the crystal kind) and surrounded by a mix and match collection of spindle backed wood chairs. It ain't our thing, but it's really quite lovely.

The simple, rectangular shaped swimming pool sits pleasantly away from the house and is sunk into the lawn with a narrow flagstone coping. A raised area for sun beds behind the pool allows sunbathers an amazing view of the city while frying their skin up in the scorching afternoon sunshine.

The new owner does not appear to be a famous person and we really don't know where Mister and Missus Richardson have decamped. Perhaps they've moved to bigger and better digs in Los Angeles or maybe they've gone back to his native Lexington, KY to raise up their toddler out of the limelight and glare of Tinseltown's paparazzi drama. Wherever they may land, Your Mama wishes them well and hopes they don't put another damn pot rack in their next house.

From 2005: Kevin On SoupNatural Sound Track

Posted: Aug 6 2008, 10:19 PM

Did You Know Kevin was on SoupNatural Sound Track

Kevin Richardson

Almost a decade after his life as a Backstreet Boy began, Kevin Richardson is as humble as he was the day it all started. Enjoying the moments and embracing the opportunities, Kevin has undoubtedly come a long way but he still holds close the people and memories that have helped guide him to this place in his life.

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Kevin grew up singing in church, playing sports and enjoying the outdoors. Music was always a constant and as a teenager he was often seen jotting down lyrics or playing the piano. In high school, he was involved with activities ranging from musicals to football. His desire for perfection led him to success in everything he did and helped him develop a work ethic and personal versatility that would drive his future successes.

In the early 1990's, after graduating from high school, Kevin moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue performing opportunities. It was in Orlando that Kevin met up with Nick, Howie and AJ and together they formed the Backstreet Boys. Soon after becoming a group, Kevin invited his cousin Brian to join and the rest is Backstreet history. Since the Backstreet Boys began they have seen record sales of over 65 million albums world wide, have sold out countless tours and have received a multitude of awards acknowledging their exceptional harmonies and contributions to pop culture.

Kevin has also become an active advocate of colon cancer awareness and prevention, a cause that has become particularly important to him since losing his father, Jerald Wayne Richardson, to the disease in 1991. In 2001, Kevin joined several congresspeople, including Congresswoman Slaughter of New York, on Capitol Hill to introduce the "Eliminate Colorectal Cancer Act." This was established to promote early detection and treatment of colon cancer.
In 2003 Kevin made his Broadway acting debut as the super-smooth lawyer Billy Flynn in the musical "Chicago" (a role he also played on the London West End stage and at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre). In addition to his work in "Chicago," Kevin also performed in several regional theatrical productions during his hiatus from Backstreet.

Kevin also founded the Just Within Reach Foundation (JWRF) – an organization bearing the initials of his late father - dedicated to providing education and promoting personal responsibility for keeping the environment clean of potential cancer-causing pollutants and toxins. Kevin has worked tirelessly the past several years to help further the goals of JWRF, including participating in the Olympic Torch Relay in honor of the foundation and testifying before a Congressional committee. Through the foundation, Kevin has also distributed over a dozen scholarships to environmental science majors and has worked with National Geographic to make an educational video on heroes in American history.

Moving forward Kevin hopes to continue his outreach by lending his voice, time and passion to the Natural Resources Defense Council and Kentuckians For The Commonwealth. Currently, Kevin resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Kristin, and is preparing for the release of a new Backstreet Boys album in June of 2005.

First Kevin Costner and now this!

Posted: Jul 20 2008, 12:41 AM

DUDE! I'm used to celebrity sightings out here, but last night, Kevin, formerly of the Backstreet Boys, was in our Prepared Childbirth class! Hence, Wade texting my sister in the middle of instruction: "There's a Backstreet Boy in our baby class." And Wade singing "I Want It That Way" under his breath for the entire 2 1/2 hour class. And Wade asking me if I thought he knew Justin Timberlake. And Wade asking me what other songs the BB's sang. And both of us (yes, me too) singing every Backstreet Boys song we could think of (all four) at the tops of our lungs in the parking garage. (For the record, he and his wife are due the day before us, and they're having a boy. And he eats Cheezits and drinks water.)

Also of note, all the members of the class had to go around and share when our due date was, what we were having, and if we had a name yet. Here's why we're not telling anyonethe names we're considering: the four brought up in class were London (girl), Anders (boy), Harper (girl -- and I actually kind of like this one), and Finley (girl or boy). I mean, how can I not judge when faced with that kind of ridiculousness?

Howdy,

March 19, 2008 - Wednesday

The song on the Shakertown Myspace was written by Keith and I demoed it for him. It isn’t a solo project song. I should put a foot in his ass for posting it! Just kidding. I am experimenting with my music though and if I think it is good enough, I will do a solo project.

Peace and love,

Kevin

Dear Honorable Supervisors:

On behalf of the Just Within Reach Foundation, I would like to express support for keeping the 400-year old oak tree, referred to as “Old Glory,” standing in its original place and viable by urging Supervisor Antonovich and the County Public Works Department to modify the road plan for the proposed Newhall Ranch development, currently under consideration.

Just Within Reach is an environmental education organization, founded by musician and actor Kevin Richardson (Backstreet Boys). Our primary mission is to educate young people and their families on environmental issues and serve as a resource where they can receive information and practical examples for making a difference in their local environments and communities.

From our perspective, this issue is clearly an issue of economics as well as environmental preservation. But to kids, the environment and their safety and security in an ever-changing world is paramount. The children of the area and their counterparts in other neighborhoods want to keep the tree for the simplest of reasons – because it is the right thing to do. I would implore you to simplify this issue for yourselves by sharing the kids’ concerns and do the right thing. Developing a road plan that allows for a high-speed, six-lane freeway to snake through a community at the cost of degrading some of our last natural treasures is not the right thing to do, and it is not responsible to future generations.

There were a number of kids showing their support for John Quigley the evening he came down from “Old Glory,” and I had the opportunity to speak with them about how they felt about this issue. A 9-year-old boy named Jake assured me that there must be a way for the adults to find a good solution for this disagreement. His brother, Josh, a 12-year-old, said, “It’s plain out not fair because there are plenty of ways around this problem. Instead of making so many people upset, they should work to find a plan to make it work out for everyone.” Quite simply, the children are watching.

I encourage the Supervisors and the County Public Works Department to set an example for these kids and all kids who understand the impact of their environment, and work to adopt a road plan that supports the needs of the community while also protecting our natural assets such as “Old Glory” and the other groves of trees in the proposed development.

Modify the road plan with reduced speed and capacity specifications so that the alternative road designs that save “Old Glory” will meet county standards and preserve our natural heritage.

Sincerely,

Vicki Hanna

KEVIN RICHARDSON: Hallmark Channel To Premier 'Love Takes Wing' On Saturday, April 4

When a frontier town is devastated by an unknown illness, a young woman must stand up for those who need her help the most, even if it means standing alone. Academy Award, Golden Globe and seven-time Emmy winner Cloris Leachman (“Malcolm in the Middle”), Sarah ones (“Big Love”), Haylie Duff (“Backwoods”), former Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson and Patrick Duffy (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) star in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie “Love Takes Wing,” premiering Saturday, April 4 (9/8c). Golden Globe nominee Lou Diamond Phillips (“Stand and
Deliver”) costars in and directs the seventh entry into the film series based on the hugely popular Love Comes Softly novels by Janette Oke.

Wounded by the recent death of her husband, Dr. Belinda Simpson (Jones) arrives in the tiny town of Sikeston to take up the post of town physician. Once there, she discovers that many of the town’s residents, including children at an orphanage run by Miss Hattie Clarence (Leachman), have fallen ill to or died from an unknown ailment. Soon, Belinda begins to worry that she is in over her head, despite reassurances from her best friend, Annie (Duff), and the town blacksmith, Lee (Jordan Bridges, “Turn the River”).

Unfortunately, the residents of Sikeston aren’t as trusting of Belinda’s abilities as a doctor – mainly because she’s a woman. As well, many of them don’t even want her to help the orphans, who they blame for infecting the rest of the town. Indeed, they would be happy to see the orphanage close altogether. Opposed by what seems like the entire town, Belinda must trust in her abilities, her friends and her faith to guide her.

“Love Takes Wing” is an LG Films Production in association with Larry Levinson Productions and Faith and Family Entertainment. Larry Levinson is the executive producer and the co-executive
producers are Randy Pope, H. Daniel Gross and Michael Moran. Kyle Clark and Stephen Niver are the producers. Lou Diamond Phillips directed from a script by Rachel Stuhler, based on the book Love Takes Wing by Janette Oke.

Hallmark Channel, owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc., is a 24-hour basic cable network that provides a diverse slate of high-quality entertainment programming to a national audience of 86 million subscribers.
