LADY LAD UP THEIR STREET!

BACKSTREET Boys have turned to the hitmaker behind Lady GaGa to “rediscover” themselves.

The world’s biggest manband, with sales of more than 100million under their belts, called up Moroccan- Swedish producer-songwriter RedOne, real name Nadir Khaya, to give them a new sound.

And the first single Straight Through My Heart, released on September 27, is “poppy as hell”.

Nick Carter told me: “We racked our brains to rediscover who we were. We had to do something different but still familiar. RedOne really wanted to be on our Black & Blue album – he said he studied us, and he’s written songs tailor-made for Backstreet Boys.”

Unlike GaGa’s filthy Poker Face, there’s nothing sexual on the seventh BSB collection This Is Us, released October 5.

Nick chuckled: “Lyrically, it’s an album about love, not sex.”

Such fans of Blighty are the lads – Nick, 29, AJ McLean, 31, Brian Littrell, 34, and Howie Dorough, 35, – they have decided to take their This Is Us tour to the UK before their homeland of America.

November 3 will see them descend on Newcastle – but can they rival Take That’s mechanical elephant?

Nick insisted: “I don’t know about that but we’ve got our own tricks.

“We’re spending more money and dancing more than ever and have worked really hard to come up with something which our peers can see and say to themselves: ‘Wow, that was amazing.' ”

Nick is still reeling from the death of his pal Michael Jackson.

He said: “He was a really great, misunderstood talent.”
